Beyond our commitment to the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Chalcedonian Creed, we fully embrace and stand firmly behind the following statements of faith.

Statement of faith

In November 2022, the Apostolic Council adopted Every Nation Seminary’s Statement of Faith as the official Every Nation Statement of Faith.

God

We believe there is one God, the maker and sustainer of everything. He is perfect and unchanging, entirely loving, good, and holy, and without limit in wisdom, power, or presence. God exists eternally as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are one in being, sharing the same divine nature and attributes, while each carries out distinct roles. In his grace, God has purposed from eternity to redeem a people for himself, and he alone is worthy of our full devotion and worship.

Scripture

We believe God revealed himself through human writers in the Scriptures, comprising the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments. The Bible is the only written Word of God, inspired in its entirety, bearing its own authority, unchanging, and true in all that it declares. As God’s final and sufficient revelation for belief and daily living, it stands as the ultimate authority to be relied on and followed.

Creation & Fall

We believe God brought everything into existence, both seen and unseen, from nothing, and that all he created was very good. He continues to sustain and rule over all creation, directing it for his glory and the good of his creatures. Humanity was created in his image, male and female, to know him, love him, and live in relationship with him, while caring for the earth as stewards. The first man, Adam, chose to disobey God, bringing separation, death, guilt, shame, and a curse upon creation. As a result, all people are born into this broken condition, carrying a sinful nature and standing in need of redemption apart from their own ability.

jesus

We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who took on human nature for our salvation. Born of the virgin Mary, he is fully God and fully man, united in one person. He lived a sinless life and, in our place, willingly offered himself on the cross as a sacrifice that brings forgiveness and restores our relationship with God. He died, was buried, and rose physically from the dead on the third day. He then ascended into heaven, where he now reigns at the right hand of the Father as the only mediator between God and humanity. He will return again to judge both the living and the dead.

gospel

We believe the gospel is the message of hope that God entered human history in the person of Jesus Christ to restore those who were lost to himself. He lived a flawless, sinless life on our behalf and gave his life on the cross for our sins. After being buried, he rose again on the third day, accomplishing our redemption once and for all. Having overcome Satan and the powers of darkness, he ascended into heaven and reigns as Lord over all. All who turn to him in repentance and place their faith in him receive forgiveness and the gift of eternal life.

salvation

We believe that salvation, established in God’s eternal plan and revealed throughout Scripture, is his gracious work of rescuing those who are lost and broken through faith in the saving work of Christ. In his great love, God brings new spiritual life through the renewing power of the Holy Spirit. By grace, he forgives and declares people righteous through faith alone, not by their own efforts, and grants them every blessing found in being united with Christ, including his righteousness, the presence of the Holy Spirit within, and adoption as members of his family.

holy spirit

We believe in God the Holy Spirit, the source of life and renewal, who has been given as the assurance of what is to come. The Spirit brings conviction of sin, reveals truth, and leads people toward repentance and faith. He gives new life, joins believers to Christ, and enables them to share in the life of God. Through his presence within, Christians experience fellowship with God and enjoy his nearness. As believers are filled with the Spirit, they are strengthened and equipped for service and witness. In bearing spiritual fruit and using the gifts he provides, they build up the Church and reflect the reality of God’s kingdom.

mission

We believe God’s purpose is to gather a people for himself from every tribe, nation, and language, and to renew all creation for his glory. Just as the Father sent the Son, and the Father and Son sent the Spirit, the Triune God now sends the Church into the world to share the gospel, make disciples, and pursue justice and reconciliation in his name.

church

We believe in one holy, universal, and apostolic Church, the body of Christ with Jesus as its head. As God’s people on mission, the Church is made visible in local gatherings where believers come together to pray, worship, hear the Word, share in the sacraments, and live in fellowship with one another. Through the work of the Holy Spirit, committed followers, and biblically qualified leaders, Christ continues to strengthen and expand his Church.

sacraments

We believe that water baptism and communion are the two sacraments established by Christ, serving as visible expressions of God’s covenant of grace. Baptism marks entry into the Church, where believers openly identify with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. Communion is the practice through which believers come together to remember Christ’s body given and his blood poured out for the forgiveness of sins. In these sacraments, God meets his people, confirming the promises they represent through these outward signs.

sanctification

We believe that sanctification is the ongoing work that begins with new life in Christ, through which God shapes his people into the likeness of Jesus by his Word and Spirit. By grace, believers grow in holiness and in their love for God and others over time as they follow Christ, live in obedience to his Word, and walk in step with the Spirit alongside a community of faith.

second coming

We believe that Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords, will return to the earth in bodily form, with power and glory, at a time set by the Father and unknown to the Church, to raise the dead and judge all people. He will give the righteous new, imperishable bodies and reward them according to their lives. The unrighteous, along with Satan and the powers of darkness, will face eternal judgment. In the end, God will complete his work of redemption and renew all creation, and his people from every nation will live with him, worship him, and reign with him forever.

ADDITIONAL AFFIRMATIONS

The following six statements are brief answers to challenging doctrinal questions many Every Nation pastors and campus missionaries face on the field today. The purpose of this document is to provide a basic theological framework for topics not directly addressed in our Statement of Faith.

Marriage is the covenantal union between one man and one woman, and sexual intimacy is intended to be expressed only within this relationship.

We believe God created every individual as either male or female. Both are equal in value and dignity, and together these distinct biological realities reflect the image of God.

Every person is made in the image of God and carries inherent worth from conception through to natural death. This includes the unborn, the elderly, those with physical or mental challenges, and all who may be overlooked or marginalized.

We value the influence both Calvinist and Arminian traditions have had in advancing God’s kingdom. Recognising the significant common ground between them, we choose unity over division within our global community.

All people are created in God’s image, and his glory is revealed through the unity of diverse cultures, languages, and ethnic backgrounds in Christ.

We support and encourage the involvement of women across all areas of ministry, while acknowledging that local churches are best positioned to apply this in a way that reflects their specific cultural, theological, and social context.
